Bestiary entry[]

Derivation: Oversoul

Rare variety of oversoul with a particularly evil disposition. This strain, as yet unrecorded in the Camp annals, is hunted in the Dalmasca Westersand.

Stats[]

How to find[]

Dustia (1)

Dustia appears in the Dalmasca Westersand the Corridor of Sand when at least one party member has less than 10% of their max HP remaining.

Battle[]

Dustia uses Dark magicks, Doom, and Annul. Being an undead, Dustia can be defeated by using a Phoenix Down on it.

Dustia is good for speedy leveling because it offers over a thousand EXP, 3 LP, valuable drops, and is chainable via the zone out glitch. The Flame Staff it drops can be a good weapon all the way until the endgame when using fire magicks.

Level grinding[]

Dustia can be spawned as soon as the player can leave Rabanastre and Phoenix Downs can be bought from the merchant right outside Nalbina Fortress, past the Estersand once the Sunstone has been charged in the Giza Plains. Its loot sells for a lot of gil, allowing the player to buy more Phoenix Downs. There is risk involved, as Dustia casts Dark, which may kill the player's character if they do not defeat Dustia soon enough. The player can set the Battle Speed to Slow (in the Configuration menu) to slow down the rate at which Dustia uses Dark.

It is best to use Dustia for leveling at the beginning of the game because subsequent characters' levels are determined by, and approximately one or two levels higher than, Vaan's level. Another reason is that Vaan will gain all of the EXP (not having to share it with any other characters), speeding up the process.

Etymology[]
