What is the best PVP Class in ESO? Top 3 PvP Classes 2024 (2024)

What is the best PVP class in ESO (Elder Scrolls Online)? ESO has a big PVP community and new players often ask themselves what the best PVP class is that they could play. After all, you want to make sure to pick a useful class to dominate the battlefield. Of course, all the classes can create great PVP builds. However, some are easier to play and some are just more efficient than others.

Please visit the PvP Builds Page for an overview of all the ESO PvP Builds available. Keep in mind that players will have different opinions on what they think is best.

1. Sorcerer Class

The Elder Scrolls Online’s Sorcerer is the best PVP class by many of the top players if you ask them. The Sorcerer class in ESO excels at high mobility, high damage, high damage absorption via shields and ease of use. This is perfectly showcased on the “Streak” Sorcerer Build for PvP. Sorcerers offer pretty much anything that a player wants. Sorcerers often use a fire destruction staff to deal damage from far away. This makes it harder for the enemy to even start attacking.

Not only that, but Sorcerers have the most powerful ability in the game, which is called Streak. Streak lets you flash forward and stun everything in your path. You can repeatedly use this skill to travel over long distances. Basically making it impossible for the enemy to catch you. Sorcerers are great at the cat-and-mouse game. You are always in control of movement and you can decide whether you need a breather by streaking away for a few seconds or not. Even if you are far away you can still attack because of the ranged playstyle of Sorcerers.

Sorcerers in ESO have great burst damage thanks to one of the best combos in the game, namely Haunting Curse, Crystal Fragments and Crushing Shock. If timed correctly, all the damage can hit the enemy at the same time, resulting in crazy burst damage. And if that is still not enough, you can also time the three attacks with an additional Shooting Star ultimate, which evaporates any target.

They also have access to better shields than any other class, namely the combo of Hardened Ward and Harness Magicka. Any class has access to Harness Magicka, but Hardened Ward is a Sorcerer specific class ability and it stacks with Harness Magicka. This allows for double the shield size to bolster incoming damage more than any other class. Some fights might end up without you getting any damage to your health bar. In ESO you can constantly reapply your shields without any downside.

Of course, there are more reasons why many players consider the Sorcerer Class in ESO (Elder Scrolls Online) to be the best PVP class. However, this should give you a great idea of why you could or should pick a Sorc to dominate the battlefield.

2. Nightblade Class

The Nightblade class comes in as a close second for the best PVP class in ESO (The Elder Scrolls Online). Nightblades are known for their stealth and high burst damage playstyle. The “Assassin” Nightblade PvP Build is a great example of that. You could say that Nightblades are a gankers dream in ESO. While they are a bit squishy they make up for it with superb damage and escape mechanisms that no other class has.

Some of the best skills for Nightblades in ESO that every PVP build uses are Surprise Attack, Relentless Focus and the Incapacitating Strike ultimate. Surprise Attack is a fast instant cast ability that hits the enemy hard. Relentless Focus lets you activate a spectral bow that deals insane damage. Sometimes you can even one-shot enemies with this ability. And the Incapacitating Ultimate is a low cost single target high damage ultimate. It also debuffs the enemy so they take more damage from all your sources. A good example of these abilities would be this clip here where the enemy gets stunned with Incapacitating Strike and finished off with the spectral bow.

And let us not forget the most important ability, Shadowy Disguise. This lets you go invisible whenever you want, giving you the opportunity to escape a fight or use it as a distraction while fighting. In the clip above the Nightblade also used Shadowy Disguise once to confuse the enemy and to get rid of the tab target on the character. This can have a huge impact even if it is only active for a split second. Shadowy Disguise in combination with dodge rolling can make you almost invulnerable to certain enemy builds because they will barely manage to hit you.

The Nightblade Class in ESO (The Elder Scrolls Online) is one of the better cookie-cutter types. You will either love or hate playing it. If you have played stealthy characters in other games then you will definitely love it. If you are more of a tanky or defensive player then this might not be your first pick.

3. Dragonknight Class

In The Elder Scrolls Online the Dragonknight class plays as a more tanky brawler type of a class. A great example of this is the “Legion” Dragonknight PVP Build. The build incorporates everything that players love about Dragonknights. The front bar focuses on a defensive playstyle while the back bar is focusing on the offense with a two-hander.

Some of the best Dragoknight class abilities are things like Noxious Breath, Volatile Armor, Fragmented Shield, Venomous Claw or the Take Flight ultimate. Volatile Armor and Fragmented Shield both help increase our defense and healing capabilities, they are a must-have in every Dragonknight build. Noxious Breath deals good damage but more importantly debuffs the enemy with Major Breach, reducing their resistance. And Venomous Claw is one of the strongest single target damage over time effects in the game

The Take Flight ultimate is another great example of how Dragonknights play, the ultimate pushes fear into enemies by leaping toward them and dealing an insane amount of damage and knocking them back.

The Dragonknight class also has a unique way of resource management. The Battle Roar passive replenishes resources whenever you use an ultimate ability. Therefore you can decide when you want to get a huge boost of resources, which can be a key component to success in combat. The Helping Hands passive also replenishes resources every time you use an Earthen Heart ability. And the Mountain’s Blessing passive gives you Minor Brutality and ultimate points.

Once again, this list varies from player to player, everyone has their own personal best classes.
