University Housing is excited to welcome you to your new home! Living on campus opens up tons of new opportunities for you to meet new people, make new friends, learn new things, and get involved in programs that will enhance your academic experience.

Arriving to Your Residence Hall

  • Students should make every effort to make their scheduled move-in appointment on time in order to promote an efficient move-in process for all.
  • When you arrive at your residence hall, ensure you have a picture ID available (preferably your FSUCard, though a state-issued ID will be fine). Residents must be present to sign for and receive your room key.
  • Remember to check the myHousing portal to see your residence hall and room. Move-in day and time signups will become available shortly after assignments are published.

    Scheduling Your Move-In Day and Time

    All students are required to sign up for a move-in day and time.The link to sign up for move-in will be emailed to students at theirfsu.edu email address.

    How to Schedule Your Move-In Appointment

    • Move-in appointments will occur Friday, August 16th through Sunday, August 25th.
      • Friday, August 16th is reserved for sorority recruitment move in.
      • General move in appointments will be available on August 17th, 18th and daily August 21st—August 25th.
    • We are utilizing Sign Up Genius to schedule move-in appointments. You do not need to create a Sign Up Genius account to participate.
    • You will receive a Sign Up Genius link specific to your building. This link will be emailed to your FSU email account. Do not share that link with students who live elsewhere; it will not work for them.
    • You can sign up for one appointment only. Each appointment one hour long. In that hour you should arrive on campus, check in to get your key, unload your vehicle, and move your vehicle to a parking garage. You may walk back to your residence hall to finish setting up your room.
    • There are more than enough appointments for all students.
    • There are weekday and weekend appointment options.
    • If your preferred day and time is not available, we cannot schedule you for a day that already has all the slots taken. Please choose an appointment that is closest to your preference.
    • You must use your FSU email (@fsu.edu) to schedule your move-in appointment. Sign Up Genius will not recognize or accept a non-FSU email address.

    Log into the housing portal to confirm you have provided your emergency contact and missing person information. Follow our instructions to make sure you provide all of the required information.

    Move-In Tips

    • Packing: Remember, you will be unloading all of your belongings. Pack sensibly and seasonally.
    • Carts and Hand Trucks: There are limited moving carts available for checkout on a first-come, first-serve basis at the hall desks. If you have your own, you are strongly encouraged to bring it.

    Pets at Move–In

    It is hot in Tallahassee in August and pets are not allowed in the residence halls. Please leave your pets at home for their own safety and comfort.

    Mailing Packages to Residence Halls Prior to Move–In

    If you are mailing packages to the FSU post office to be available for you when you move-in, please do not mail your boxes prior to August 1st. Please contact the FSU UPS Store or at 850–561–9180 with questions.

    Good parking habits begin early. Register your vehicle early.

    Day of Your Arrival at FSU

    During your scheduled move-in time, you should arrive at your hall, unpack your car, get your belongings to your room, and move your car to a parking garage. You can then return to the residence hall on foot to continue setting up your room.

    You are encouraged to download the FSU Tranz app for your iOS or Android smartphone for availability in the campus parking garages.

    Good parking habits begin early. Register your vehicle early and park in student parking spaces as soon as possible.

    Guests

    For safety reasons, residents must escort their guests, including family members, at all times while guests are in the building.

    Problems with your Room?

    If you have any facilities concerns with your room during check–in, please speak with your building’s Facilities Supervisor. Your Facilities Supervisor can be reached through the front desk in your residence hall. After check–in, you are encouraged to submit a housing facilities repair request through our website or the myFSU mobile app.

    Remember to Drink Water!

    The average temperature in Tallahassee in August is 92°F. Stay hydrated while moving into your residence hall. We recommend bringing a reusable water bottle.

    After You Move In

    Now that you have moved into your residence hall room, we need you to take a good look around and ensure it’s looking good! If you find that your room has any maintenance issues, please submit a repair request within 72 hours using our online system.

    After you submit your repair request, a Housing Maintenance Staff member will come by to service these damages and issues. Things to be looking for are: bathroom lights being out, furniture concerns, shower/toilet issues, etc. If needed, you can find a more detailed list to review here. Please report any lock or key problems to your front desk immediately.
