It was initially a religious celebration to give thanks to God, and typically, it celebrates the entry of the 1st pilgrims to America.The day is the perfect occasion to feel thankful for the good and happy things in life. It is a day of happiness and celebration, and the family gets together.In the United States, itis observed as one of the significant family celebrations usually celebrated at home with family members and friends. History ofThanksgiving Day

The day is celebrated every year since 1863 in the United States. It is an annual holiday. Not everyone recognizesthis Day as a cause for celebration. Every year since 1970, a few Native Americans have organized a protest for a Day of Grief at Plymouth Rock in Plymouth, Massachusetts on this Day. American Indian Heritage Day is also celebrated during this time. There are claims that the 1st Thanksgiving was observed in 1598 in El Paso, Texas. Another prior event was conducted in the Virginia Colony in 1619. Few people find the beginnings of the present Thanksgiving to the harvest observation that the Pilgrims held in 1621 in Plymouth, Massachusetts. But their 1st real Thanksgiving was in the year1623 when they offered thanks for rain that ended a drought. These old thanksgivings took the form of a particular church service rather than a festival. In the latter half of the 1600s, the day became more usual, and the people started to celebrate the day as the annual occasion. This day was observed on different days in various communities and a few otherplaces; there was more than one Thanksgiving every year. The first president of the US, George Washington, announced the 1st national Thanksgiving Day in the year 1789.
