SERP Analysis in Keyword Explorer

Guide To SERP Analysis Tool In Keyword Explorer - Help Hub (1)

SERP (Search Engine Results Page) Analysis in Keyword Explorer takes a snapshot of the first page of results and authority metrics for that keyword at the time you query it. We use this data to calculate our Keyword Difficulty metric.

We'll show you the results that appear for that keyword for the location selected. You can use this information to get an idea of the strength of the sites ranking for this keyword.

A. Number of organic results on page one - This number represents the number of organic links found on the first page of the SERP for this keyword. A typical first page result has up to 10 links which includes both organic and SERP feature results.

B. SERP features - When present, the tool will note what SERP Features are included in the SERP.

C. Export to CSV - Click here to export this information to CSV.

D. Organic Results - Organic results in the SERP are numbered 1-10 based on placement in the SERP (up to the number of organic links included in the SERP).

E. Link Metrics - The tool will note the Domain Authority, Page Authority, and Linking Root Domain counts for each page included in the SERP.

F. On-Page Grader Score - The score noted is based on our On-Page Grader tool and represents how well optimized this page is for the given keyword. Click on the score to be taken to the On-Page Grader tool to view the full report. A red exclamation point in place of the score indicates we are unable to grade that page.

Understanding SERP Analysis Terminology

More definitions are available on our Glossary.

Monthly Volume - Volume ranges show you (with 95% or more accuracy) how often a term or phrase is searched for in Google each month.
Difficulty - A score from 0 (easy) to 100 (difficult) that estimates how difficult it is for you to rank higher than current competitors on the first page of search results.
Organic CTR - Estimates the percentage of clicks (or click-through-rate) available to traditional, organic links on the SERP. When other SERP features (ads, verticals, etc) compete for attention this score is lower.
Priority - A score from 0 (low) to 100 (high) that combines all of the other metrics, including your custom My Score. Higher priority represents a sweet spot of higher Volume and Organic CTR with lower difficulty.
Domain Authority (DA) - Domain Authority is a Moz proprietary metric from 1-100 which predicts how well a domain will rank in Google based on a machine learning algorithm of link metrics.
Page Authority (PA) - Page Authority is a Moz proprietary metric from 1-100 which predicts how well a page will rank in Google based on a machine learning algorithm of link metrics.
Linking Root Domains (RDs) - Number of unique root domains linking to a target. Two links from the same website will only be counted as one linking root domain.
