Does Channel Divinity Require Continuous Presentation of Holy Symbol - Rules & Game Mechanics - Dungeons & Dragons Discussion - D&D Beyond Forums (2024)

Does a cleric have to continuously present their holy symbol for duration of the required effect, turn undead, chalice from twilight.

this is from Twilight

"As an action, you present your holy symbol, and a sphere of twilight emanates from you. The sphere is centered on you, has a 30-ft. radius, and is filled with dim light. The sphere moves with you, and it lasts for 1 minute or until you are incapacitated or die. Whenever a creature (including you) ends its turn in the sphere, you can grant that creature one of these benefits:

- You grant it1d6+3temporary hit points.

- You end one effect on it causing it to be charmed or frightened."

In a game last night cleric did the temporary hp for every round 4 rounds, and still took actions after the first initial action of presentation. Is this correct. I would think it would have to be his action every round. I would also believe he would have to hold 'concentration' while doing so.

This also lead to me wonder about turning undead, for example turn undead he fails, starts to run away, if you stop the prayer and presentation of holy symbol does it end?
