Does it matter who the parents are in Fallout Shelter? ›

The SPECIAL and the level of the parents will influence the children's starting SPECIAL's. This child was born by regular parents no stat above 6 and level under 30: This child "Natasha Galor" was born by level 50 parents with all SPECIAL at 10, the mother Sarah Lyons a Legendary Dweller and the father Anelor Galor.

You must be actively playing for the last step to occur. Pregnancies last for three hours, and it takes three additional hours for the child to become an adult. During an incident, pregnant dwellers, children, and pets will hide in living rooms until the threat is cleared.

A baby inherits his/her trait from her parents. If the parents have high stats in Charisma, then the baby will almost always have similar stats as well.

Both parents need to be level 50 with maxed-out SPECIALs for a chance to birth legendary babies in Fallout Shelter. This, however, is still based on RNG. There is only a 6 percent chance of getting a legendary baby (40 randomly assigned SPECIALs) with maxed-out parents.

Since children inherit their parents' S.P.E.C.I.A.L. scores, it's best to plan your breeding pairs accordingly. You are more likely to create children with higher, specialized stats if you breed together two Dwellers with higher stats.

Dwellers sharing a parent cannot mate, nor can they mate their own parent or grandparent. One will see the "Hanging out with the family" message when they meet in the living quarters. Uncles, cousins and nieces can mate, as can aunts and nephews.

After intercourse it takes three hours for the Vault Dweller to give birth, then another three hours until the child grows into an adult.

Most NPCs don't age over the course of the game, the only notable exception is the Cabot family, Jack and Eugene will age and Wilhelmina will die after completing the Cabot house quest line because they no longer have access to the anti-aging serum.

There is no end.

It's a good idea to have Dwellers on stand-by to guard the Vault Door in preperation for when happens. When you assign Dwellers to the Vault Door as guards, make sure you equip them with high quality Weapons and Outfits to repel any intruders. These Dwellers will be your first line of defense.

The storage room requires 12 dwellers to be unlocked. Despite being marked as an Endurance room, having an Endurance-oriented dweller assigned to this room appears to have no effect on the room's function. It does make that dweller happy, though that dweller will not gain levels while assigned to the storage room.

There's no rejection button. But you can put them in the vault and immediatly drag them back over to the wasteland, like sending them out to scavenge, but in the pop-up menu in the bottom right corner is a red cogwheel which lets you kick them out instead.
